Dr Derek Keeper
The owner of the practice, Dr Derek Keeper, has been practicing in NSW since graduating from the University of Sydney with a Bachelor of Veterinary Science (honours) in 2007. Prior to that, he completed a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture (honours) at the University of Guelph in Canada.
In December 2017, Derek graduated from a Masters of Veterinary Clinical Science Program at the University of Sydney, completing his work on Reproduction in Robotic Dairies. In July of 2015, Derek also passed his membership exams in Animal Nutrition (Ruminants), becoming a member of the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists. He has a passion for preventative health care in both livestock and small animals, and brings this passion to his own practice by striving to provide affordable and convenient health care and advice on the care of pets and livestock alike.

Originally from Canada, Derek came to Australia to study Veterinary Science. He met Karen while at university, and they married in 2012. They worked together at a mixed large and small animal Vet clinic in Northern NSW for 4 years before moving back to Sydney, where Derek took a position at the University Livestock Unit in Camden and Karen joined the team at Campbelltown North Animal Hospital. They currently live in the Camden area with their dog, Vixen, and two cats, Mischief and Barney. They both enjoy camping, fishing, cooking and taking the always energetic Vixen for a run.
Derek became the Nepean Mobile Vet in May 2015. His dedication to the practice of exceptional Veterinary medicine, and his understanding that the majority of people in the area work from Monday to Friday, led him to create his mobile practice with its opening hours centred over the weekend for the convenience of the community.
